20 minutes from Amsterdam CS a habitat building is being developed for and by artists. The project is a non-profit initiative of the CITYMIX foundation in collaboration with the social housing association The Key. The goal is to build 80 large and cheap live work studio’s.

Throughout the building 1200 m2 is available for exhibition space / theatre / crèche / general workshops / common studios / gallery. In addition to this guest studio’s (AIR program and catering) will be included in the building. The location is within walking distance of the IJsselmeer lake. The development has started in 2007, construction is scheduled in Jan 2010. The planning is that the building will be delivered in September 2011.

CITYMIX is a non-profit project development organization for social urban projects. We develop live-work buildings and cultural networks for the creative industry and for artists. These collective buildings include Artists-In-Residence programs, community spaces and public services for artists and creatives.
